Kelechi Iheanacho scored the only goal as Nigeria beat Egypt 1-0 in the Africa Cup of Nations opening match, MySportDab reports.
First Half Report
Good first-half encounter coming from both countries in the Africa Cup of Nations group stages.
Egypt started the game as the better between both teams going forward as they pressured their opponent so much but nothing could come out of everything done.
Nigeria held things down until they gained control of the match which saw them dominating things as they pushed forward looking to find a breakthrough.
Kelechi Iheanacho scored a stunner in the 30th minute after receiving the ball from Joe Aribo which saw the Leicester City man finish off in style to make things 1-0 going forward.
The goal was a decisive one in the first half which carried on with more opportunities being created with both defense and goalkeepers on their toes all through.
The first half ended with Nigeria 1-0 Egypt as they both headed inside for the break leaving the Super Eagles with the much needed advantage after 45 minutes.
Second Half Report
The second half got off quickly for both teams who were equal to the task at hand as they moved in the same frequency as the tempo of the game.
Egypt continue doing everything possible to make a comeback in the match but every little opportunity they had was countered back by their opponent who weren’t joking.
It was Nigeria getting their stuff going as the coach had to make some changes at the front which saw Villarreal forward Samuel Chukwueze coming off after a not so good day for him.
Things were looking good as they approached the final 10 minutes left in the match which was still advantage to the home side for the encounter.
The match came to an end with Nigeria 1-0 Egypt which saw the home side getting all three points in their opening game for AFCON 2022.
