Kepa Arrizabalaga saved a penalty which saw Chelsea beat Plymouth Argyle 2-1 in extra time of the Emirates FA Cup, MySportDab reports.
First Half Report
The first half of the encounter wasn’t an easy one for the Blues who were tipped to get an easy win against the lower league side.
Plymouth Argyle stunned Stamford Bridge when they score an early goal in the 8th minutes through Macauley Gillesphey who made the scoreline 0-1 with a header.
Things carried on with Chelsea struggling to make anything happen despite all the pressure they had going forward and opportunities created but nothing went past the goalkeeper.
Cesar Azpilicueta leveled things in the 41st minutes from an outstanding finish after receiving an assist from Mason Mount which saw them making it 1-1 as it carried on.
The first half ended with Chelsea 1-1 Plymouth Argyle after 45 minutes played which saw them heading for the break with a draw scoreline.
Second Half Report
Both teams had it not so good in the second half which was expected to be another 45 minutes for the Champions of Europe to get the win.
Chelsea continued to dominate the entire play as it progresses but they couldn’t find a way through scoring to take the lead they needed badly.
Plymouth Argyle continue to give the Blues a run for their money as their manager Thomas Tuchel was ruled out of the encounter before kickoff after testing positive for Covid.
The second half came to an end without anything happening as they head for the break with Chelsea 1-1 Plymouth Argyle with extra time up next for both teams.
Extra Time Report
The match was beginning to look like Manchester United vs Middlesbrough which saw the lower League side getting the win via penalties.
Chelsea had to make sure they didn’t end up crashing out as their efforts paid off in the 105th minutes with additional time which saw Marcos Alonso making it 2-1 with a calm finish.
Kepa Arrizabalaga was the decider of the Blues fate after pulling an amazing save from the penalty spot in the 117th minutes which saw the game ending 2-1 with Chelsea making it into the next round.
