Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood has now been officially released by the Greater Manchester Police, MySportDab reports.
Greenwood got arrested on Sunday for Sexual assault, rape and attempt to kill.
Videos and images of physical violence went viral on Sunday morning, which shocked the football world.
His club, Manchester United have already suspended him from all club activities for now.
However, in a new update shared this morning by the Greater Manchester Police, Greenwood has been released on bail.
The Greater Manchester Police released a statement saying:
“A 20-year-old man arrested for the rape and assault of an 18 year old woman has been released on bail until further investigation is done.’
Greenwood can now go home after three good days in police custody of non stop questioning by officers.
This incident could affect his football career on the long run.
His sponsor, Nike have already distanced themselves from the player immediately and suspended their partnership.
