Erik ten Hag has is now the new favourite to get the Manchester United job at the end of the season, MySportDab reports.
He is now top of the shortlist after a comprehensive background check by the Manchester United hierarchy.
The Ajax Coach has been one of the candidates for the job since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer got Sacked in November.
However, he has been in a tight race with PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino.
Other coaches like Brendan Rodgers, Thomas Tuchel and Ralph Hasenhuttl have also been discussed but they are very unlikely.
According to The Sun, Manchester United have done a comprehensive test on all candidates for the manager job.
MySportDab understands that Teg Hag came out ‘well on top’ in the results.
The United Hierarchy believe that the Dutchman can return the club to their former glories and stay at the club for a long time.
The Sun also claim that Thomas Tuchel has now been ruled out of the job.
United want to announce their new manager as soon as possible to create more time for next season preparations.
Interim manager Ralf Rangnick is also involved in the process of appointing the next manager as he will become a consultant in the summer.
Ten Hag remains under contract at Ajax until 2023, so a compensation fee will have to be paid to sign him.
However, the fee is not a problem for Manchester United.
