Manchester United have now started talks with Ajax to sign defender Jurrien Timber this summer, MySportDab reports.
Timber became a key first team player under Erik ten Hag in Amsterdam.
He won three dutch titles at Ajax with the 52-year-old manager.
MySportDab understands that Ten Hag wants to bring Timber with him to Manchester United at the end of the season.
Ten Hag plans to rebuild the Manchester United squad this summer and wants to bring in new players such as a striker, a midfielder and a central defender.
According to The Mirror, Ten Hag could sign Timber as his first signing as the Manchester United Coach.
The 20-year-old became one of Ten Hag’s best players over the years at Ajax.
Timber played 43 matches this season as Ajax won the Eredivisie title.
He can also play at both centre-back and right-back.
Additionally, he is very young and could prove handful in a few years.
However, there are other clubs interested in the player this summer.
When asked about signing Timber for United, Ten Hag said: ‘I think many clubs in Europe have some interest in Timber. But I think that is the same thing for Ajax players.’
Manchester United fans are already happy with the rumours of signing Timber this summer.
Also, Ten Hag might have to replace Jesse Lingard, Alex Telles, Dean Henderson, Anthony Martial, Phil Jones, Eric Bailly, and more as they could leave the club.
