Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt has now provided a new update regarding his future in the Serie A, MySportDab reports.
There has been reports linking him with a summer move to Manchester United.
De Ligt developed into a top player at Ajax under Erik ten Hag.
He was key member of the Ajax team that reached the Champions League semi final under Ten Hag during the 2018/19 season.
De Ligt signed for Juventus after that fantastic season in 2019.
However, all have not gone well for the centre-back in Turin.
In his first season, De Ligt won the league title at Juventus.
But, Juve have now failed to win the league title in two consecutive years and finished fourth.
This has thrown De Ligt’s future at Juventus into doubt.
He was asked about leaving Juventus this weekend.
Now, the Dutchman has responded admitting that he is more focused on the sporting aspect.
“Yes, we are having talks with Juventus right now,” De Ligt said.
“I am only focused on how to improve on the pitch.
“I will decide to leave or extend my contract at the right time.
“My first key decision is the sporting project at any club. Ending fourthfor two years at Juventus is bad and Juventus feel the same way.
“So Juventus must now make steps. I’m a Juventus player now so that’s is all.”
De Ligt’s remains under contract with Juventus until 2024.
At Manchester United, they need a new defensive signing this summer.
Erik ten Hag wants to improve his defensive options after a poor season for club captain Harry Maguire.
