OFFICIAL! Nottingham Forest Announce Taiwo Awoniyi [VIDEO]

Nottingham Forest has announced the signing of Nigeria striker Taiwo Awoniyi from Union Berlin, MySportDab reports.

Taiwo Awoniyi is Nottingham Forest’s record signing which cost them €17 million to complete a move after lengthy talks with Union Berlin.

The striker signed a five-year contract with the newly-promoted English Premier League side, who are looking to make him their crucial player ahead of the new season.

He is the club first signing this summer window as they are working on making other deals official in the coming days as they intend to build on their team.

His performance for Union Berlin last season was good as he ensured he could help them secure European football despite how hard it was for them.

Taiwo Awoniyi contributed 20 goals in 43 games across all competitions for the German Bundesliga team, which was vital.

Union Berlin finished 5th on the League table and made it through to the Europa League for the first time since the 2001-02 season.

His performance put top clubs on alert as he chose to join Nottingham Forest instead of moving elsewhere this summer window.

The Premier League side is glad to have completed a move for the Nigeria International, who will be starting a new life in England.

Taiwo Awoniyi has expressed his joy to finally be making a return to England with him looking to prove former club Liverpool wrong for letting him leave.

Here Is What He Said Via Nottingham Forest’s Official Website:

“I’m very excited to be here at Nottingham Forest,” said Awoniyi following his move to The City Ground.

“It’s always been my dream to play in the Premier League, and having spoken to Steve Cooper about our ambitions and looking at Forest, with its great history, it’s a club that I want to be part of.

Following Taiwo Awoniyi, Nottingham Forest will announce Dean Henderson next, who will join on a loan move until the end of the season.
