Wayne Rooney’s agent Paul Stretford is under investigation a few days after his client Wayne Rooney resigns from Derby County Job, MySportDab reports.

The England FA is battling the renowned football agent for an alleged breach of rules governing agents’ conduct in the game.

Stratford faces the likelihood of being slammed a heavy fine or revoked his licence if the charges against him are being proved.

Derby County, with deducted points, finished 23rd on the Championship table with 34 points.

The club was submerged in a series of crises linked to a pile of debt and a takeover crisis.

At the end of the 2021-22 Championship season, Rooney confirmed that all the defenders and goalkeepers were out of contract.

But in a sheer show of commitment, they have all committed their future to the club despite being relegated.

Rooney’s agent Paul Stretford has reportedly stepped in to hand the players and staff a cheque amounting to £1.6m.

Stratford reportedly stepped in after a failed takeover bid at Derby County.

An American businessman, Chris Kirchner, had reportedly planned to take over the club as he was the preferred bidder.

Kirchner’s planned takeover was expected to help alleviate the woes of the financially-stricken club.

However, the takeover process failed, and the club’s financial problems were far from over.

According to reports, Derby County’s financial crisis must have been one of the reasons Wayne Rooney resigns from his role.

Stratford had allegedly stepped in and remedied the situation by paying the staff and players.

According to England FA, Stretford’s gesture is a breach of the rules governing the game.

The England football governing body has reportedly commenced an investigation into the case.

If found guilty, Stretford may likely be slammed a fine or have his licence suspended.
