Barcelona has officially announced the signing of Andreas Christensen as a free agent, MySportDab reports.
Andreas Christensen completed the move from Chelsea after failing to reach an agreement that could have extended his contract further.
The defender is the second signing for Barcelona today after confirming Franck Kessie, who completed a move from AC Milan.
Andreas Christensen signed a long-term contract that will keep him until 2026, with him also being priced out of the market.
His release clause also includes a €500 million fee which means leaving elsewhere if things fail to work out won’t be an option as he won’t be affordable in the market.
His move to Barcelona comes after Chelsea was hit with a ban by the United Kingdom government following an attack on Ukraine.
Due to Roman Abramovich’s ties with the Russian government, he was sanctioned by the UK, which also moved to sell Chelsea on his behalf.
No agreement was reached during that period to extend Andreas Christensen’s contract as other offers came in, which ended with Barcelona going an agreement.
It was claimed that offers from the English Premier League came in, but out of respect, he declined to force a move to Barcelona, which has now been completed.
He will be the club’s second signing for the summer window as he will join Franck Kessie, who was also announced earlier today, signing a four-year deal.
Barcelona announced the date he will be officially unveiled and paraded via social media and their official website.
Here Is What Was Said:
His unveiling will happen on the 7th of July, the next day after Franck Kessie, which is expected to be made public on the 6th.
Barcelona can now focus on other moves in the market to sign both Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski, both expensive in the transfer market.
