Conor Gallagher missed horribly after trying to score a penalty with the Panenka in Chelsea’s against Charlotte FC, MySportDab reports.
Christian Pulisic scored the first goal for Chelsea in the 30th minute in North Carolina.
But Charlotte FC equalised in the closing stages of the match to make it 1-1.
They equalised due to a poor foul by Trevor Chalobah for blocking a shot with his hand.
Daniel Rios scored the penalty from the Foul and that took the match into a penalty shoot-out for both clubs.
However, Goalkeeper Mendy failed to stop any of Charlotte’s five penalties as the all scored and secured the win against Chelsea.
Raheem Sterling, Kai Havertz, and Ben Chilwell all scored a penalty for Chelsea
But, Gallagher will never forget about his failed penalty attempt from 12 yards.
The England midfielder tried to score with a Panenka style but it went horribly wrong.
Charlotte FC goalkeeper Sisniega stood on his line and the ball came to him with no effort.
Gallagher’s attempt failed badly as the ball barely got up to even try the real Panenka.
Fans on social media could not believe it.
A fan wrote: “The Goalkeeper Laughed.”
Another fan wrote: “One of the worst penalties of all time.”
A third fan added: “Chelsea better send him on loan again next season.”
A fourth fan wrote: “He’s not ready to play for Chelsea next season with that rubbish attempt.”
Another angry fan wrote: “Does he think it is simple to do a Panenka?.”
Chelsea face Arsenal in their next pre-season friendly, and then play Udinese in Italy on July 29.
