Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag has revealed his plan B for Man United midfield amid De Jong transfer deadlock, MySportDab reports.

Erik Ten Hag picked up the role of Manchester United’s new manager as the fortunes of the Red Devils continue to dwindle.

Despite the presence of one of the world’s most decorated players Cristiano Ronaldo, United failed to qualify for the Champions League.

Ten Hag has continued in his mission to overhaul the team and inject his high-pressing and attacking football pattern into the team.

United have won all the Pre-season matches so far with a perfect scoring 8 goals so far.

However, Ten Hag believes United is far from his ideal new team ready to challenge for the 2022-23 Premier League title.

He had outlined some loopholes in the United midfield and his plan to remedy the situation.

According to the Dutchman, Man United needs a holding midfielder, and Barcelona perfectly fits into the role.

The former Ajax manager has been vigorously pushing for a deal with his former Ajax star Frenkie De Jong.

After 11 weeks of discussion, Man United are yet to sign the player, and Ten Hag believes De Jong could help fit into his United midfield plan.

According to manchestereveningwas, Ten still places premium on a deep-lying holding midfielder for Man United.

However, he has designed an alternative plan to solve the problem if De Jong still insists on staying in Camp Nou.

He had reportedly admitted that an internal player would be developed to fit into a holding midfielder if De Jong’s is quashed.

“We are looking for a player who can play in the holding midfield position,” Ten Hag clarified, “but it has to be the right one.

“There are not many in that position capable of the level we demand. When we can’t find him, we have to deal with the players in our squad now and we will develop one in that position.

“I will not react on a certain player. We need the right player. We have a list and we qualify as the player who has the competence to play that role. We will strike the moment the player is available.”

Fred and McTominay had started for Man United in their two pre-season wins against Liverpool and Melbourne Victory.

Charlie Savage and Zidane Iqbal were used in the second half ot the two matches.
