FT: Crystal Palace 0-2 Arsenal, Martinelli STRIKES! (VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS)

Mikel Arteta has kicked off his 2022-2023 Premier League campaign on a winning note defeating Crystal Palace 2-0, MySportDab reports.

First Half

The first half began with both sides pushing hard against each other as they attempted to find a goal.

It was mostly an engaging game with both sides attacking hard and launching offensives into the opponents’ box.

The Gunners exert greater control over the game in the opening minutes, attempting to push their opponents into the defense.

Despite mounting intense pressure on the Eagles’ defense, they could create a clear chance against their opponents.

However, their efforts paid off in the 20th minute; Martinelli gave the Gunners the lead courtesy of a good assist by new signing Oleksandr Zinchenko.

The Eagles began to approach the game with much energy as the close up the midfield forcing the Gunners to the defense.

Arsenal continued to hold on against a rampaging Crystal Palace team until the first half ended 1-0, with the Gunners maintaining their lead.

Second Half

Crystal Palace came into the second half of the game with much pressure on thr Gunners.

Their attempt to penetrate through the Gunners’ defense proved futile, with efforts by Saha meeting the Gunners’ brink wall defense.

Saha, was set up for a one-on-one chance with the Arsenal goalkeeper; his left-footed shot deflected off the goalie’s crossed legs and was cleared off by the Arsenal defense.

The Eagles’ continued to mount immense pressure on the Gunners’ defense.

Arsenal continued to hold on to their narrow lead but was forced into their own half by the Eagles.

The Gunners had an opportunity to double their lead in the 85th minute, and they did; Saka’s right-footed cross was nodded into the net by Guehi.

The own goal by Guehi doubled Gunner’s lead despite maintaining lesser ball possession.

The March ended with the Arteta’s side grabbing a much-needed 2-0 win over their hosts to justify their superb preseason run.
