Manchester United Coach Erik Ten Hag has now sent a clear message to the fans, MySportDab reports.
Erik ten Hag is confident that he is the right man to bring Manchester United back to their glory days despite a poor start to the season.
He has lost his first two Premier League matches so far and now United are 19th on the table ahead of today’s game.
The poor results have now put Ten Hag under more pressure far than he could ever have expected.
However, the Dutchman is still confident that he will get it right.
‘I’m here to restore the club and not for myself,’ said Ten Hag.
‘I knew the challenge before accepting and I wanted this challenge.
‘I knew it would be hard, but I still wanted it, everywhere in my career the start has been difficult but I always get it done.
‘I accepted this project. I knew it was a process and I will stay on course with the plan we had. I keep confidence in the players, coaches and the directors.’
Ten Hag refused to discuss the gap that is now between Manchester United and Liverpool over the last 10 years.
But, he blamed the poor start on various reasons such as injuries and lack of fitness of some players.
‘We know we are here now,’ he added.
‘We have to improve, and work on our plan, not just against Liverpool.
‘We did well in pre-season. Martial got injured, Ronny wasn’t ready, the No 6 holding midfield has not been solved, the first game our centre-halves had never played together, and also the goalie is not in the best of form.
‘But I know we will fix all that and the results will improve soon.’
Manchester United have already signed Casemiro to fill in the defensive midfield role, but the Brazilian can’t play against Liverpool today.
Now, Ten Hag must decide either to start Ronaldo or bring Anthony Martial back into the starting line-up.
