Manchester United has officially unveiled a new signing, Antony from Ajax, MySportDab reports.
Antony’s move to Manchester United wasn’t an easy one as the Premier League had to go behind the scene to discuss making a move happen.
Ajax turned down multiple offers made by the Old Trafford club, which had some bids deemed not good enough for an agreement.
Antony wasn’t just linked to Manchester United early in the summer window, but the likes of Chelsea were also once in the race to make a move happen.
The London club dropped out of the race based on the value of the player, and they were able to reach a lower agreement with Ajax.
Manchester United had to make sure they could complete a move after long talks and roadblocks.
Ajax manager also aimed a dig at the club, claiming the Red Devils are not playing Champions League football so that Antony won’t be joining them.
But it isn’t looking so right now as Manchester United and Ajax reached an agreement of €95 million and €5 million in addons which will make €100 million.
Medical are also completed yesterday, and he has been unveiled as a new player for the English Premier League club today.
Here Is What Antony Had To Say Via Manchester United Official Website:
“This is an incredible moment in my career to be joining one of the most iconic clubs in the world.
“I’m thankful to everyone who has believed in me, especially my family, and all my coaches and team-mates, because I could not have got here without them.
“Playing under Erik ten Hag at Ajax was perfect for me and my development. His style of football and coaching brings out the best in me, and I am excited by what he has told me about his plans and ambitions in Manchester.
“My time at Ajax was fantastic and I will always be grateful for the trust they put in me, but now I am ready for the next challenge, and I can’t wait to join my new team-mates and play my part in bringing success to Manchester United.”
The move comes after Manchester United signed Casemiro from Real Madrid for a recorded €60 million.
Martin Dubravka is another name that will be announced soon after reaching an agreement of €5 million with Newcastle United for the goalkeeper.
They could be another addition before the window ends in Europe when no more players can make more moves.
Antony is another acquisition that will add more options to the attacking position as Erik Ten Hag is doing much to build a team.
