Nigeria Super Eagles player John Mikel Obi has announced his retirement from his football career, MySportDab reports.

John Mikel Obi is one of the most successful African football players in the club and country.

He played most of his career in England with Premier League team Chelsea football club for over ten years.

During his time in the Premier League he had a lot of success winning every possible title there is available to win.

He also had the opportunities of playing under different managers who gave him the much time needed to show his contribution.

Mikel Obi was part of the team who won Chelsea first UEFA Champions League title as he was deployed to play the midfield on that night.

He won the Premier League more than once, also going on to win the cup titles on several occasions during his time with the club.

Despite him not scoring a lot of goals, he was still able to command a place in a club that changes managers constantly.

John Mikel Obi established himself playing for the Nigeria youth team who lost in the final of the World Cup against Lionel Messi, Argentina.

The midfielder took to his social media to confirm the retirement of the former Super Eagles captain.

Mikel Obi also enjoyed a lot of success with the National team where he won a lot for the Nation.

He is part of the team who won the Africa Cup of Nations which was one of the biggest moment of his career.

He also won bronze medal for the Nigeria Olympic team which was after then he made a move away from Chelsea.

John Mikel Obi have now decide to call it an end to his football career with him set to go into other things in the future.
