Manchester United Coach Erik Ten Hag has now revealed how Cristiano Ronaldo can make it back to the Starting XI, MySportDab reports.
Cristiano Ronaldo must be fitter and selfless if he wants to start matches for Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United.
The Dutch manager is happy that Ronaldo did not leave the club after the transfer window closed.
However, he has made it clear that the five-time Ballon d’Or winner must adapt to a philosophy at Old Trafford.
Ronaldo has started only once in the Premier League so far this season under Ten Hag in United’s 4-0 defeat at Brentford.
Now, he is also unlikely to start for United’s match against Arsenal on Sunday.
The likes of Rashford, Sancho and Fernandes have formed a new high-tempo attack.
United’s £85million signing Antony could make his debut today.
‘I will be available as his friend, but also as his teacher. It depends on what happens,’ said Ten Hag about Ronaldo.
‘It is obvious that he didn’t take part in the pre-season and pre-season was very important.
‘It depends a lot like co-operation, certain positioning, in and out of possession. Also, a key factor is the fitness.’
Ten Hag has shocked everyone so far during his short reign at United.
He has the ability to make big unexpected decisions like United great Sir Alex Ferguson.
Dropping Ronaldo, Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw and Fred after the Brentford defeat was a big risk, but it worked out fine.
Signing players from the Dutch market has also been controversial, as the Red Devils paid over £155m for Antony, Lisandro Martinez and Tyrell Malacia.
There are so many players from the Eredivisie who failed to adapt in the Premier League over the years like Donny Van De Beek.
