Nigeria U17 Women’s team have made it to the quarter-finals of the FIFA U17 World Cup after defeating Chile U17 2-1, MySportDab reports.

The Nigeria side went into the game with much confidence after securing a win against New Zealand in the tournament to keep their hopes of making it from the group alive.

They needed a draw to secure their place in the competition’s next round, but they exceeded expectations in grabbing all three points against the Chileans.
After dominating play and holding the Chileans, an assist from Opeyemi Ajakaye led to the first goal.

The Flamingos still dominated the game despite going a goal up. They created a series of chances, but thanks to the Chilean goalkeeper who put up an impressive performance.
The first half ended with Nigeria maintaining their 1-0 lead as they went into the break.
Second Half
Nothing really changed in the second half of the game, as the Flamingoes continued to dominate the game and pressed for a second goal.
The Chileans held on and equally made a few attempts at the attack but were foiled by the Flamingos.
The Flamingos finally got their second goal late into the second half in the 82nd minute.
Bisola Mosaky fired into the net to put the Flamingos in absolute control of the game.
The Chileans converted to spot kick to get their consolation as the game finally ended in a 2-1 win for the Flamingos.
The Nigeria side will now face United States or Brazil in the Quarterfinals as they qualify as runners-up in the group with 6 points.
