BREAKING! Andrea Onana Leaves Cameroon World Cup Squad!(Details)

It has been confirmed that Andrea Onana has exited Cameroon’s 2022 World Cup squad, MySportDab reports.

Andre Onana left the squad ahead of Cameroon’s second World Cup group game against Serbia.

Although the reasons for the departure have been sketchy, the Athletic confirmed that Onana left the Indomitable Lions after a disagreement with his manager over the weekend.

The 26-year-old was omitted from his nation’s matchday squad on Monday after reportedly discussing his style of play at Saturday’s training session with Rigobert Song.

The former Indomitable Lions’ defender is said to have asked the Inter Milan goalkeeper to play more direct and not take any risks near his own goal.

Onana disagreed with the arrangement, and Rigobert Song has stated it will be better if he does not even make the bench in Cameroon’s next World Cup clash against Serbia.

The Athletic confirms that Onana has left the squad to return home following the incident and is now officially out of Cameroon’s World Cup squad.

The Cameroonian FA has been reportedly contacted for comments on the incident, and they are yet to respond.

The Inter Milan goalkeeper made 35 appearances for Cameroon and joined Serie A giants Inter Milan on a free transfer this summer from Dutch champions Ajax.

He was used for full 90 minutes in Cameroon’s World Cup opener against Switzerland, which ended in a 1-0 defeat for the team.

Now, Devis Epassy is set to replace him in the squad and will now be the number one choice goalkeeper for Cameroon.

Cameroon’s hope of making it to the next round of the competition is under severe risk, as they are yet to salvage even a point from the tournament, with just one group game remaining.
