Cristiano Ronaldo has reacted to his contract termination by Manchester United, MySportDab reports.
The Portuguese star took to his social media handle to accept Manchester United’s contract termination.
In a brief and terse statement, Ronaldo said he has reached out to the club and has agreed to end his contract with them early.
“Following conversations with the club, we have mutually agreed to end our contract early,” Ronaldo said in the statement.
However, in an emotionally charged tribute, Ronaldo admitted his love for the club and the fans, saying that will never change, but he added it is the right time for him to seek a new challenge.
“I love Manchester United, and I love the fans; that will never ever change. However, it is right time for me to seek a new challenge,” he added.
Ronaldo “wished the team every success for the remainder of the season and the future.”
Ronaldo’s starting words came just hours after Manchester United announced that they had terminated Ronaldo’s contract.
Obviously, Manchester United’s termination of Ronaldo’s contract follows his controversial interview in which he granted with Piers Morgan.
The Portugal international has slammed the moribund facilities at the club by the Glazers since he joined the club as a youngster.
Ronaldo slammed the Glazers for being interested in just the marketing part of the club, not the sporting aspect.
Ronaldo’s interview was met with backlash and fury from the Manchester United hierarchy, who began the process of his contract termination following the interview.
The club then took to its official website to announce the final decision to end Ronaldo’s contract on mutual agreement, and the Portuguese had accepted the decision.
Both parties will now part ways, with Ronaldo losing £16million that he would have earned before the expiration of his current contract.
The five times Ballo d’Or winner, who is now at the World Cup with Portugal, will now have to shop for another club after the World Cup.
