They further confirmed that as part of the process to improve the growth of the club and promote long-term success,  the board will consider several ‘strategic alternatives.”

Part of the strategic alternatives includes looking for new investments, selling the club, or doing any other transaction to facilitate the process.

A statement by Manchester United Co-Chairman and Directors, which was also captured in the club statement, reads;

“Manchester United’s strength is dependent on the over 1.2 billion global fans and followers. As we seek to build on the club’s recorded successes, an process to evaluate the strategic alternatives of the club has begun as we seek to best serve the fans and maximize all opportunities available for the club.”

However, while the Glazers admitted their resolve to leverage available opportunities to improve the club, the club statement further added that “there can be no assurance that the review of the strategic alternatives will result in any transaction with the company.”

Whatever decision the Glazers are up to at Manchester United, it is pretty clear that they have finally felt the call by Manchester United fans for them to leave the stage after almost a fruitless 17 years of ownership.

The glory days of Manchester United ended effectively in 2013 when Sir Alex Ferguson left the club.

Fans have been calling on the Glazer to leave the club after almost a decade of trophy drought.

Meanwhile, the decision by the Glazers to shift gears came just hours after they terminated Ronaldo’s contract after he criticized them for poor handling of the club.
