The news has been confirmed by the head coach of the Portugal national team, Fernando Santos, who said the 37-year-old is suffering from a mild illness they will rule him out of the friendly.

Ronaldo is reportedly suffering from Gastrointestinal inflammation and will not be able to play the friendly match.

Nevertheless, he is in good spirits ahead of the World Cup and is bent on leading the squad to World Cup glory.

Coach Fernando Santos confirmed that Ronaldo’s controversial interview would not affect the team’s chances in the World Cup.

The Portuguese star granted a controversial bombshell interview with Piers Morgan that sparked criticism from fans and pundits.

Ronaldo slammed Manchester United management for poor handling of the club and also revealed his disdain for Erik Ten Hag for disrespecting him.

Even his former teammates, Gary Neville and Wayne, had a share of Ronaldo’s tirade in the interview.

Speculations were that the tensions generated in the Man United squad might spill into the Portugal World Cup squad, with three Man United stars all called up in Fernando Santo’s squad.

However, it has been confirmed that the team is in good spirits. Hence, missing the friendly against Nigeria is unrelated to the incident.
