Goals from Christian Eriksen and Marcus Rashford helped Manchester United beat Burnley 2-0 in the EFL Cup, MySportDab reports.
The Old Trafford club needed to get the job done knowing they have come through come backlash before the season went on a break.
First Half Report
Manchester United started the first half as the better of both teams going forward in the EFL Carabao Cup encounter.
Burnley held on fine in the first 10 minutes of the game which they were able to soak in all the pressure that was coming from their opponent.
The devils continued dominating play until a good team work effort saw Aaron Wan Bisakka with a delivery which Christian Eriksen finished off neatly to make it 1-0 in the 27th minute.
The game continued moving forward with a lot more coming from both sides but nothing could change the scoreline which remained the same hitting the 40th minute mark.
The first half ended with Manchester United taking a 1-0 advantage into the break against Burnley who gave a good account of themselves.
Second Half Report
Burnley came in the second half hoping to make a comeback which saw them creating some early opportunities which didn’t gift them anything.
It wasn’t looking easy for the visitors who wanted to make something happen but found it difficult navigating and getting the much needed goal.
Manchester United doubled their advantage to 2-0 in the 57th minute of the game which saw Marcus Rashford finishing off an assist from Scott McTominay.
Nothing else came from both sides who made some changes hoping to score a goal that didn’t come as they entered the 90th minutes with added time left to play.
The game came to an end with Manchester United beating Burnley 2-0 to advance into the EFL Quarterfinals which they await their next opponent.
