England Manager Gareth Southgate Takes Decision On England Future! (Details)

England Manager Gareth Southgate has taken a decision on his England future after his World Cup exit, MySportDab reports.

Gareth Southgate came under heavy criticism after England suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat to Hungary in the 2022/23 UEFA Nations League.

Despite leading the Three Lions to the semifinals of the 2018 World Cup and reaching the final of the Euros 2020, there were calls for his sack as England manager following the abysmal 2022/23 UEFA Nations League campaign.

England ended being relegated from the top tier of the UEFA Nations League after managing just a goal throughout the group games.

Sources close to the 52-year-old former defender disclosed Southgate was heading to the 2022 World Cup with the intention to leave after the competition due to the pressure from fans and pundits after the UEFA Nations League campaign.

England finished as the best group winners in the 2022 World Cup and set up a round-of-16 clash with Senegal. They won 3-0 but crashed out in the quarterfinals after losing 2-1 to France.

After the World Cup exit, the English FA has no ready replacement for Gareth Southgate if he chose to leave. Nevertheless, he was given the leeway to decide on his England future.

According to Daily Mail, Gareth Southgate has chosen to stay as England’s manager and lead the team to the 2024 Euros.

His decision came after fans and pundits applauded his World Cup performance despite crashing out in the quarterfinals.

The decision is also said to be a big relief for the FA, who will now be relieved of the need to search for a replacement for Southgate.

The 52-year-old will complete the remaining two years of his contract and lead the team through the 2025 Euros qualifiers next year.
