The French squad has been hit with an illness, with two starters set to miss the semifinal clash against Morocco today, MySportDab reports.
France takes on Morocco in a crucial 2022 World Cup semifinal clash to decide who meets Argentina in the finals.
Didier Deschamp’s squad defeated Poland 3-1 in the round of 16 and eased past England 2-1 to reach the semifinal.
Morocco edged out Spain in the round of 16 through penalty shootouts after a barren draw and defeated Portugal 1-0 to reach the semifinals.
The two teams will clash this evening for a place in the final, which comes up on Sunday, while the loser in the semifinal will clash with Croatia for a third place.
However, according to Sun Sports, France has been hit with a sudden illness, with two potential starters – center-back Upamencano and midfielder Adrien Rabiot – affected.
The two players who have been integral members of Didier Deschamps’s starting lineup could not join training due to illness.
The report also confirms that Adrien Rabiot is unwell, while Upamecano is battling a sore throat ahead of the clash.
Both players are regular starters for Didier Deschamps and were featured in the 2-1 quarterfinal win over England in the quarterfinals. They were priority choices for the Deschamps ahead of the Morocco clash.
Meanwhile, Ibrahima Konate and Youssef Fofana have been tipped as possible replacements if the two players can’t make the starting lineup.
Rabiot has featured in all five matches for the team, while Upamecano was rested in the final group game against Tunisia, which Les Bleus lost by a lone goal (He has featured in all other four matches.)
France is tipped to defend the title they won four years ago in Russia, but they must navigate through a solid Moroccan defence that has conceded only one goal – an own goal so far in the tournament.
The match comes up by 19:00GMT. The winner will face Argentina in the finals of the tournament.
