Lionel Messi’s World Cup Photo Is Now Instagram Most Liked Picture EVER!

Lionel Messi has now set a new world record on Instagram after winning the 2022 World Cup with Argentina, MySportDab reports. 

The former Barcelona player now has the most liked picture in the history of Instagram with over 56 million likes in a few days.

The Instagram post with over 56 million likes shows Messi lifting the World Cup after Argentina beat France in Sunday’s final.

After the exciting penalty shootout win over France, Messi shared on Instagram ten pictures of the celebrations in Qatar.

Since he uploaded the post, it has now gotten over 56 million likes and counting, also Messi has now gotten over 402million followers on Instagram.

Messi shared the post with this caption:

‘WORLD CHAMPIONS!!!!!!! I waited for so long, I wanted it, I can’t believe it……

‘Thank you to my family, everyone that supported me and believed in us. We showed as Argentines that when we fight together, we can achieve what we set out to do.

‘The merit goes to everyone, which is above individualities, it is the strength of us for the same dream’.

Messi’s latest post surpassed Ronaldo’s post of an advert for Louis Vuitton ahead of the World Cup where him and Messi sat together with 41.9 million likes.

However, Ronaldo remains the most-followed person on Instagram with 519 million followers.

The record for most ‘likes’ on Instagram was previously held by Chris Godfrey with a photo of an egg in 2019 and reached 56.1 million likes.

In 2021, Ronaldo got 32.6 million likes for the announcement that his partner Georgina Rodriguez’s child.

Meanwhile, Messi’s post of the Louis Vuitton advert with Ronaldo got 32.2 million likes.

Messi performed very well in the final in Qatar as he scored twice, and also scored his penalty.

It marked a perfect last World Cup for the 35-year-old Paris Saint-Germain star, who has now won everything possible in football.

Messi and his team-mates flew back to Argentina on Monday, and celebrated their World Cup win with thousands of fans.
