Brazilian football legend Pele has reportedly stopped responding to treatment after his health condition worsened, MySportDab reports.
Pele was immediately moved to the Albeit Einstein hospital in Sao Paulo, Brazil, by his wife and carer after it was confirmed that his health condition had worsened.
Reports in Brazil said the 82-year-old, who was admitted into the hospital last week, ‘has been moved to palliative care’ in the Albeit Einstein hospital and is ‘no longer responding to chemotherapy’ in his fight against bowel cancer.
PSG and France international Kylian Mbappe and Pele’s former club Santos, including Brazilian ex-player Rivaldo had tweeted their good wishes to the football icon following the development.
Kylian Mbappe wrote on his twitter handle, “pray for the king.”
The news of Pele’s worsening health condition was confirmed by a Brazil media outlet Folha de Sao Paulo.
Pele has been battling cancer, and concerns over his health have grown among football lovers across the world.
In one occasion, he underwent an operation to remove a tumor that his crippled his physical wellbeing.
Now, he is in palliative care and will reportedly not be subjected to invasive treatments or tests.
Pele – whose full name is Edson Arantes do Nascimento – is one the greatest footballers the world have ever known, and it is the hope of all that he sails through this.
