Erik ten Hag has now slammed Manchester United’s defending in the 3-2 loss against Arsenal, MySportDab reports.
Eddie Nketiah scored a brace and Bukayo Saka scored once to help the Gunners secure all three points at the Emirates.
Speaking to Manchester Evening News after the game, ten Hag said his players ‘must change their mentality’ to be successful.
The Dutch coach also said that he was ‘annoyed’ by the defeat.
‘Maybe we see that we are in a good place in the next couple of hours, realise we are developing, a good process, but I’m still annoyed,’ Ten Hag said.
‘I also told the players, we must change our mentality to win trophies, titles for the club.
‘It’s not good to make three big mistakes and concede goals in a top game. Especially the last goal, very disappointing.
‘A point was the minimum there and then you must take the point and not lose it like we did tody on top level. Then there’s no trophies.’
Manchester United are now fourth in the table after the defeat behind Newcastle and Manchester City but remain in good form.
Speaking further, Ten Hag revealed he ‘can change’ the mentality at the club to turn United into title challengers.
‘It was all bad with the goals we concede, starting with the corner and then mistakes’, he added.
‘The discipline was not there and then you don’t just concede goals.
‘Obviously, the team that wanted it the most won. Of course, we had a game recently with some disadvantages, but those are just excuses.
‘I think we can change the players mentality with coaching, and it has been improving over the last few months which was obvious today.’
