Manchester United fans have gone crazy with David de Gea after his horrendous mistake against Everton in the FA Cup, MySportDab reports.
Manchester United took on Everton in the FA Cup third round at Old Trafford.
A win for Everton would have been a shocker as the Frank Lampard boys have endured an eight-match winless run so far in all competitions before the game.
The two managers did not take chances in the game as they paraded their best legs and hope to secure a win to proceed to the next round.
Manchester United dominated play and were looking set to cruise to victory from the start.
Antony opened the scoring for the Red Devils in the 4th minute, putting the home side ahead.
However, David de Gea nearly spoiled the party for Manchester United when he committed a horrendous blunder that led to an immediate equaliser after Antony’s goal.
In a video available at the end of this post, the Spanish goalkeeper was caught out at his near-post as the ball squirmed between his legs and crept into the path of Conor Coady who had an empty net to tap into to pull Everton level at 1-1.
Manchester United fans blast the Spaniard for allowing Everton to score such a cheap goal.
A fan wrote, “This mistake is too costly, De Gea should begin to chop bench in important games.”
Another wrote, “It is clear David de Gea is close to the twilights of his career. Age has caught up with him.”
Another fan wrote, ”no wonder the club was reluctant to renew his contract because they have to avoid things like this.”
Another fan wrote, “David de Gea is for sale please, bids as low as £8million is welcomed.”
Another said, “A loan move to Blackpool loading”
Despite the blunder, Manchester United players finally bailed David de Gea out with two more goals that saw the Erik Ten Hag men ran away with a 3-1 win.
Coardy scored an own goal, while Marcus Rashford scored a late penalty to secure the win for the Red Devils.
