Mason Greenwood

Mason Greenwood has been ruled out of Manchester United squad for the rest of the season, MySportDab reports.

The Man United forward was arrested in January 2022 for alleged rape and attempted assault on the same victim.

He was suspended from the Man United squad as investigations into the alleged rape charges continued.

However, in a shock move by the Crown Prosecution Service(CPS), charges against Mason Greenwood was dropped.

The CPS cited issues of technical inconsistencies, and withdrawal of witnesses, making it impossible to proceed with the case.

After charges against the 21-year-old was dropped, it was thought he will likely return to Manchester United first-team.

Ironically, Manchester United have refused to call back Mason Greenwood into the squad.

The club issued an official statement recognizing the fact that charges against the player has been dropped, but the Old Trafford club further insisted the club will take onto its own investigations before Mason Greenwood could be reintergrated into the squad.

Now, reports from Daily Mail have confirmed Manchester United’s investigation of Mason Greenwood will take “several months” before a conclusion can be reached.

However, there are reports the Red Devils were bent on completing the investigations before the end of this season, but as things stand, it is pretty clear Mason Greenwood will not feature for the team before the of this current campaign, as key parts of the investigations is yet to tbe accomplished.

The 21-year-old was expected to be interviewed in the process of the investigation, before external experts began the probe – non of that has happened yet.

This means Mason Greenwood will certainly not return to Manchester United first-team this season as things stands.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are still footing his £70,000 weekly wage bill, and have three options on the table after the conclusion of investigations – sale, contract termination, or re-intergration into the squad.
