French police have now officially charged Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi with rape, MySportDab reports.
The 24-year-old is accused of raping a woman at in Paris last month.
Last week, a woman reported the incident at a police station, but refused to press charges against the player.
Immediately, the police opened an investigation on Monday and today he has been charged over the allegations.
He has been questioned on Thursday by investigators in the case.
However, Hakimi’s lawyer said that the accusations are all ‘false’.
Fanny Colin said: ‘The accusations are not true. He has made himself available to the authorities.’
Paris Saint-Germain released a statement recently which read: ‘The club fully supports the player, who has now denied the accusations.
‘Paris St-Germain promotes respect on and off the pitch.’
According to Le Parisien, Hakimi was learned about the charges 90 minutes before the Best FIFA Football Awards ceremony on Monday.
He got honoured at the ceremony thanks to his performances, and got included in the FIFPro men’s world team of the year.
Hakimi was preset to collect the award alongside his team-mates Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi.
He was part of the Morocco team that performed very well at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
