Frenkie De Jong Breaks Silence On Manchester United Renewed Interest! (Details)

Manchester United target Frenkie De Jong has broken his silence on the renewed interest by Manchester United in signing him, MySportDab reports.

The Barcelona midfield sensation has been on the radar of Manchester United’s new manager Erik Ten Hag since the latter took over the reins at Old Trafford.

Frenkie De Jong

Erik Ten Hag made Frenkie De Jong his prime target and had reached an agreement with Barcelona last summer before the move was torpedoed in the last minutes.

Frenkie De Jong who played under Erik Ten Hag at Ajax before he joined Barcelona has been unmoved in his resolve to stay at Nou Camp amidst United’s interest.

Chelsea were also interested in the Dutch playmaker but backed off when it was clear signing the midfield maestro was not feasible.

Manchester United were equally forced to back off last summer as the deal failed to go through.

The Red Devils instead switched attention to former Real Madrid defensive midfielder Casemiro, signing the Brazil international in a shock £60million deal.

Erik Ten Hag has signed a number of midfielders in addition to Casemiro but is still eyeing Frenkie De Jong.

We had earlier reported Manchester United have reignited their interest in Frenkie De Jong after the close of the January transfer window.

Erik Ten Hag is still keen on bringing the 25-year-old to Old Trafford in the next transfer window.

Now, it appears the Dutch star has dealt a final blow to Man United’s renewed interest in signing him.

Speaking with Spain media outlet, RAC1, on the renewed interest by Manchester United and the rumored Premier League move, Frenkie De Jong said;

‘Last summer I was always calm as I knew I would stay at Barca and I never changed my mind,’

‘I always dreamed of playing for Barca and I want to succeed here. I want to continue here.’

De Jong’s comment will be a major blow to Ten Hag’s hope to sign the midfielder but there are still gray areas for the Red Devils.

Laliga’s ban on Barcelona from the transfer market unless they sell players could work to United’s advantage if the Catalan club chose to offload de Jong to offset their dwindling financial fortunes next summer.
