Argentina World Cup winner and Barcelona legend Lionel Messi has received death threats from an Argentina drug gang, MySportDab reports.
After winning the 2022 World Cup with Argentina’s national team, Lionel Messi and his wife Antonella Roccuzzo’s family has been reportedly targeted by drug gangs in Argentina.
The planned attempt to swindle the PSG star climaxed in a recent brutal attack on a supermarket reportedly owned by Lionel Messi’s wife’s family.
According to the Mirror, Antonella Roccuzzo’s family have a big supermarket in Rosario – Lionel Messi’s homeland.
The supermarket came under a brutal attack by a hooded gunman in the early hours of Thursday.
CCTV footage of the attack shows the hooded gunman driven by a motorcycle to the location of the supermarket before he started firing several shots into the supermarket.
After the attack, the gunman had reportedly left a message which reads, “Messi we are waiting for you. Javkin is a narco. He will not look for you.”
The attacker opened several shots at the supermarket before leaving the message and making his way from the premises.
Reports from Argentina media says Pablo Javkin is a major in Rosario and the city is one of the most violent provinces in Argentina due to the activities of brutal drug gangs.
There are reports the attack is an attempt to swindle and extort money from Lionel Messi and his family.
Meanwhile, the Argentinian police have swung into action trying to arrest the two suspects as caught by the CCTV footage.
Lionel Messi reportedly owns a mega and luxury home in the heart of Rosario and used to shuttle regularly to his home when he was playing for Barcelona.
