A plane carrying Arsenal women team burst into flames in Germany, MySportDab reports.
The plane was about conveying the team back from the Champions League game against Wolfsburg in Germany when the sad incident happened.
Footage of the incident that has went viral on social media shows the plane bursting into flames at the runway in Germany Airport.
The game between Arsenal women and Wolfsburg women ended in a 2-2 draw.
It was the first leg of the semifinal of UEFA Women Champions League and a returned leg is expected to take place in England.
According to eyewitnesses who saw the incident, before the plane burst into flames, a loud bang was heard before the fire was sparked.
The pilots who were just about to take off were terrified and have to immediately disembark from the airplane.
There were other passengers in the plane when the incident took place but they were all evacuated.
An officer who is reportedly working at the airport told German media outlet BILD that the airplane was in a perfect condition before it was about to take off.
He added the fire outbreak was caused by a bird strike which must have caused the engine to develop a fault immediately sparking the flames.
Reports reaching us from credible sources and other other officials at the airport claimed that all Arsenal women team were evacuated during the incident.
None of the players was hurt and a replacement plane has been used to fly them back to England after the match.
Arsenal fought back tooth and nail to salvage a draw against Wolfsburg after they conceded twice in 25 minutes during the game.
The second leg will take place at Emirates Stadium next Monday and the winner of the tie will face either Chelsea or Barcelona women in the final.
