His wife shared a picture of him on Instagram with a protective boot and crutches near by which means he could miss United’s match against Tottenham.
The Portuguese midfielder suffered a knock in the first-half of United’s FA Cup win over Brighton on Sunday.
Fernandes still played on to help his teammates until the 101st minute, and got replaced by Wout Weghorst.
His wife, Ana Pinho posted a photo of his sitting on a couch on Instagram and this is now a major worry for Manchester United fans.
The picture shows his ankle is strapped up with is a protective boot and a pair of crutches is nearby.
Ana wrote on the story: ‘Recharging.’
Fernandes limped off out of Wembley on Sunday, and now there are more serious concerns about the Portuguese midfielder.
The picture from his wife means there’s a high probability that Fernandes can’t play against Spurs on Thursday evening.
United Coach Erik ten Hag will want to have the midfielder back as soon as possible to help in the battle for Champions League football.
The Red Devils are now in a serious situation with various injury problems on Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane and now Fernandes.
Fernandes has returned to great form this season under Ten Hag, scoring 10 goals and providing 13 assits across all competitions.
