Ajax midfielder Davy Klaassen’s head got split open after being hit by a missile from the fans during the semi-finals of the KNVB Cup, MySportDab reports.
The Match got temporarily suspended due to the horrible injury.
During the game on Wednesday night, Ajax players were thrown objects by the home crowd.
The game started to create some tension on the pitch as challenges continued flying all over the pitch.
However, a missile from the crowd proved to the be the last mark.
With the players were arguing near the touchline, Klaassen turned his back to the home crowd and was struck by a lighter.
Immediately he got struck, and with blood pouring from his head, the midfielder told the referee Allard.
In the video now viral, he asked for the players were taken off as the home crowd continued their protests.
The referee agreed and the game got suspended as officials and players went off the field of play.
The game was paused by match officials for 15 minutes.
Club officials agreed for the game to continue after talks, and Feyenoord assistant manager John de Wolf warned fans to stop.
The game was initially paused for a minute following smoke billowing across pitch with flares, making it difficult for players to see.
The Dutch FA released a statement condemning the incident, and that the people at fault will be found and dealt with.
