Manchester United are ready to trigger the release clause of Napoli’s center-back Kim Min-jae in the summer, MySportDab reports.
The Red Devils want to beef up their defense after they failed woefully to Liverpool in the Premier League, conceding seven goals.
Despite a mini-revival at Old Trafford under Erik Ten Hag, the club still needs to do some work on the defense line and are reportedly ready to trigger Napoli’s release clause for their center-back Kim Min-jae.
Kim Min-jae joined Napoli from Turkish club Fenerbahce last season for just £16m.
Now, his market value has risen considerably with the Serie A title hopefuls fixing his release clause at £40m.
He has been a key part of Napoli’s brilliant Serie A run this season and has made 36 appearances for the club so far this season.
Kim Min-jae is reportedly interested in moving to the Premier League but his release which is now double his cost must be met.
According to Daily Mail, Manchester United are reportedly ready to trigger Kim’s release clause as they plan to bolster their defense next season.
However, the Red Devils must wage battle with two other domestic rivals – Liverpool and Tottenham who are all in the race to sign Kim.
French Ligue 1 giants PSG are also interested in Kim Min-jae and are plotting a move for the defender.
Bayern Munich are also on the list of clubs ready to launch a bid for the player in the summer.
