Luton have qualified for the Premier League next season after seeing off Coventry City at the Wembley Stadium, MySportDab reports.

The Hatters gained promotion after a narrow 6-5 penalty shootout win over Coventry at Wembley.

It was a difficult game between both sides but Luton looked the better side scoring three goals of which two were ruled out and one allowed to stand.

Luton got their first goal in the 5th minute with Gabriel Osho giving the side the lead but the goal was flagged offside.

In the 23rd minute Elijah Adebayor smashed home Luton’s second goal to give the Hatters the lead again.

Adebayor later hit another goal to double the lead as Luton continued to dominate proceedings going forward but the goal was canceled for a foul in the buildup.

Coventry were a shadow of themselves in the first half but were able to pull themselves together and turn the game around in the second half.

24 minutes after the second half, Gustavo scored the equaliser for Coventry to set the tie for an interesting finish.

Coventry came close to pulling a comeback and taking the lead but missed a big chance just minutes after their first goal.

The game ended 1-1 after full time with both sides heading into extra time.

Both sides failed to find the back of the net in extra time and headed to penalty shootouts.

The first eleven penalties were scored by both sides but Fankaty Dabo of Coventry sent his penalty wide off the crossbar to make Luton dreams of qualifying for the Premier League come true.
