Manchester United player Antony have made his statement over alleged assult on his girlfriend, MySportDab reports.
He took to Instagram to make his own side of the story known after taking so long to respond.
Antony girlfriend was said to have lodged a reports against the football player for assult and other charges.
Gabriela Cavallin had previously lodged a police report in Brazil, accusing the Manchester United forwaed of domestic violence, threat and bodily injury.
According to her, Antony had allegedly assaulted her on May 20 in which was same day Man United played a match against Bournemouth.
Antony kept mute during the whole situation and didn’t make any comment or statement until now.
He has come out to claim it was a false accusation on him and he had his reasons for not making any statement concerning the allegation.
Here Is What He Said:
“To friends, fans and followers. For you, after having given my testimony at the police station where the investigation of the investigation involving my name is being conducted, I wanted to speak publicly, for the first time, since I was falsely accused of assault,” he wrote.
“I was silent so far so that nothing could interfere with the investigative process, but during all these days my family and I suffered in silence.
“Even though he was born and raised in a very needy community, he had never gone through a situation similar to this, in which a false accusation of aggression generated a previous and unfair public judgement on the part of some.
“After the closure of the investigation, my innocence will be proven, being certain that justice will prevail and the damage initially caused to my image will remain in the past.
“Thank you for the countless messages of support received at this very difficult time.”
He won’t be the first player at Old Trafford to face such allegations and luckily for him, it was declared that he did nothing wrong.
Antony will be returning with the rest of Manchester United players to regroup for the preseason which will help them prepare for the new season.
