Manchester United are now ready to renegotiate with Chelsea to sign Mason Mount, MySportDab reports.
Last week Friday, Chelsea rejected United’s latest offer of £55m for Mount, but now reduced their asking price to £65m.
United are prepared to negotiate around the payment structure but won’t over pay for a player with one year left on his contract.
There is believe that both clubs can reach an agreement soon and Mount could become Erik ten Hag’s first signing of the summer.
Chelsea sources believe the deal could be finalised or completely break down this week.
Mount has now returned from holiday and will report for pre-season training on Monday.
MySportDab understands Mount will accept if the two clubs can’t agree terms and still work at Chelsea under Mauricio Pochettino.
Meanwhile, United could focus on their alternative, which is Brighton’s £80m-rated midfielder Moises Caicedo.
Suprisingly, Caicedo is also a player Chelsea want to sign this summer.
The Caicedo deal is still at an early stage while Chelsea have focused on selling players, but anything could happen over the next few days.
However, United sources claim to have serious interest in the player and not a way to deal with Chelsea.
However, United are unlikely to sign both Mount and Caicedo due to to a tight £120m budget.
Having identified their midfield targets, United are still planning to bring in a new goalkeeper and continue talks with Onana.
With Mount and Onana set to cost United around £100m, there won’t be much funds left for another top signing.
The club have placed 13 players up for sale in the hope of raising £50m or £100m in additional funds so they can sign a striker for Ten Hag.
