BREAKING: UEFA ‘CHANGE’ Europa Conference League Name

UEFA has announced a new name for the Europa Conference League competition, MySportDab reports.

The competition will no longer bear it’s old name as they are looking to make it a stand alone tournament.

The Europa Conference League name is about to be changed from it’s original name in 2024-25.

The announcement was made by UEFA in a meeting which also saw them handing over the next two final hosting rights.

The new name will come to play during the 2024-25 season in a bid to make it it’s own competition.

Here Is What Was Said:

“Introduced under the ‘Europa’ umbrella at the start of the 2021-24 commercial cycle, the new competition has quickly established itself amongst a broad audience after two successful seasons.

“Research amongst fans as well as commercial partners has found that removing ‘Europa’ from the name of the competition will enable further development as a stand-alone competition.

“And this proposed change was approved by the UEFA Executive Committee. It will be effective in the new cycle, as of the 2024-25 season.

“Together with the UEFA Europa League, the UEFA Conference League will continue to deliver ‘Thursday Night Football’ to fans across Europe and beyond.

“A strong link between the competitions will remain in place as both brand identities will remain very close, and both competitions will continue to be sold to broadcast partners and sponsors together.”

Jose Mourinho and his Roma side were the first team to win the UEFA Europa Conference League when it was introduced in 2021-22.

West Ham United were the second and the current champions of the tournament who won it in the 22-23 season.

The new name will come to play in the 24-25 season. There will be only one representative in the competition next season.

The UEFA Europa Conference League final for the new season and the next will be played respectively in Athens and Wroclaw.
