Zlatan Ibrahimovic was in tears as he called time on his legendary football career on Sunday night, MySportDab reports.
It was such an emotional moment as the Swedish football legend ended a 24-year career in style.
The San Siro was well-packed with fans as Ibrahimovic announced his retirement to teary eyes on the stands who gave him a standing and clapping ovasion.
Interestingly, Zlatan Ibrahimovic had refused to admit he will retire this season after struggling in his second spell with AC Milan.
He had insisted he will continue in his game and is not considering retirement soon despite his struggles at the club hence his retirement decision came as a shock to football fans.
Annoucing his retirement at the San Siro, Zlatan Ibrahimovic said;
”The first time I arrived you gave me happiness, the second time, you gave me love. I want to thank my family and those close to me for their patience.
”I want to thank my second family. The players, the coach and his staff for the responsibility they gave me. I want to thank the directors for the opportunity they gave me.”
Ibrahimovic started his professional football career in Malmo in 1999.
He has played for the biggest clubs in Europe, including the MLS before returning back to Europe with his former club AC Milan.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has played for Ajax, Inter Milan, Barcelona, Manchester United, PSG Juventus, AC Milan, and LA Galaxy in the MLS.
He has scored 405 league goals in 637 appearances for different clubs throughout his career.
He made 122 appearances for Sweden national team, scoring 62 goals and has won League titles at Ajax, PSG, Barcelona, Inter Milan, AC Milan, including several individual trophies.
