Australia have kicked off their Women World Cup campaign on a winning note as they sailed to an easy 1-0 win over Ireland, MySportDab reports.

First Half Report

The first half started with Australia dominating proceedings and forcing back Ireland.

Missing a slew of first half chances, Australia continued to hold sway over the game and were pushing hard for an opening goal.

Ireland made little attempt going forward and were defending throughout the first half of play as they struggled under intense pressure.

While clinical with possession and sleeky moves upfront, Australia failed to make their dominance count as they could not beak the goal deadlock.

The first half ended with both sides settling for a goalless draw.

Second Half Report

Australia started the second half on the front foot as they continue their search for an opening goal.

Ireland made no real threat upfront as they sat back to foil attacks and scuttled attempts by their opponents but were finally overwhelmed when they conceded a penalty in 52nd minute.

Cartley converted the spotkick and gave Australia a deserved lead after dominating play from first half.

Despite conceding a goal, Ireland made no real push for an equaliser as they continued to play second fiddle to the Australians in ball possession.

Australia continued to dominate proceedings going forward but could not double the lead.

The match ended with Australia grabbing a deserved opening World Cup win, winning by the narrow 1-0 lead after the final whistle.
