Manchester United captain Harry Maguire has broken his silence on the plan by Erik Ten Hag to change captain at Manchester United, MySportDab reports.

Taking to his social media handle, Harry Maguire said he is disappointed by the decision of Erik Ten Hag to change him as Manchester United captain.

He also revealed he has personally met with Erik Ten Hag and the Dutch manager has revealed to him he will appoint a new captain – a move that will displace him as Man United captain going forward.

Maguire added despite his disappointment he is ready to give his all to the team every time he is on Manchester United shirt.

Here is what he said;

“After discussions with the manager today, he has informed he is changing captain. He outlined his reasons to me and whilst I am personally extremely disappointed, I will continue to give my all every time I wear the shirt. So I wanted to say a massive thank you…”

We reported earlier Erik Ten Hag will change Manchester United captain as the Dutch continue to effect some changes to the Manchester United squad he inherited.

It was anticipated the former Dutch manager will not retain Harry Maguire as Manchester United captain after the England defender fell off the pecking order in Erik Ten Hag’s first season at the club.

For the first time since joining the club from Leciester City, Harry Maguire has made only 16 Premier League appearances for Manchester United with only 8 starts.

Ten Hag is ready to sell him this summer but Maguire has maintained he is ready to stay on and fight for his place in the squad.

Bruno Fernandes has been tipped by many to emerge as new Manchester United captain.
