Manchester United have confirmed their decision on David De Gea’s expired contract at the club, MySportDab reports.

David De Gea ran out of his Manchester United yesterday with talks on contract renewal breaking down at the last hour.

Manchester United wanted to renew his contract at the club but on a condition of drastically reducing his £375,000 weekly wage.

David De Gea refused to signed the fresh terms for a reduced wage offer but Athletic later confirmed the Spaniard finally agreed to sign the new contract although having hie record weekly earnings at the club reduced.

However, Manchester United decided to take a rather shocking move on the contract after David De Gea signed it.

The Red Devils reportedly refused to sign off the contract and instead returned with a more reduced offer for David De Gea.

The back-and-forth of the contract renewal process has led to a temporary break down in talks between the two parties with David De Gea now running out of contract

Now, Manchester United have issued a statement clarifying the club’s position on David De Gea’s expired contract.

A statement on the club’s website reads;

“David De Gea contract is due to run out but discussions remain open with the long-serving goalkeeper.”

While De Gea is out of contract with Manchester United, the club is still keen on renewing his deal.

However, Erik Ten Hag has moved to find a replacement for David De Gea should the contract renewal talks fails to go through.

Manchester United are currently eyeing a move for Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana and have met with the player’s camp for discussions.

Inter Milan have also confirmed Manchester United interest in Andre Onana but said the club are yet to table an offer for the player.
