Turkish giants Besiktas have made a shock deadline day push to sign Mason Greenwood from Manchester United, MySportDab reports.
Besiktas are reportedly ready to broker a deal with Manchester United for Mason Greenwood as soon as possible before deadline day.
However, their offer has been deemed controversial as they are only ready to offer Mason Greenwood a short term loan of six-months.
According to reports from Turkish outlet, the short term offer is an attempt by the club to ‘guage public opinion’ about the deal in Turkey before proceeding on plans for a permanent move.
MySportDab understand Mason Greenwood is yet to secure a deal with any club after Manchester United concluded he will leave the club this summer following investigations into the rape saga.
Greenwood got his career under the wires after he was indicted of attempted rape, assault and use of coercive behavior in 2022.
He was arrested and set for prosecution before all charges against him were dropped by the Crown Prosecuting Service.
Manchester United refused to bring him back to the squad and proceeded on internal investigation of the rape saga which took months before coming out with a conclusion.
The club admitted Mason Greenwood was innocent of the charges but maintained it will be difficult for him to continue his career at Old Trafford.
Hence, he was asked to leave the club this summer with the club ready to work out a good exit solution for the winger and help him restart his career elsewhere.
Manchester United now have few days before the close of the transfer window to determine whether to sell, loan, or terminate his contract.
If the club cannot sell or loan him before the closure of the transfer window, then Mason Greenwood’s contract may likely be terminated.
Besiktas are the latest clubs now ready to sign the player after Roma and Al Etiffaq debunk rumors linking them to Greenwood.
