As the excitement builds for the forthcoming 2023/24 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season, fans can expect an electrifying kickoff with defending champions Enyimba squaring off against Federation Cup victors Bendel Insurance, MySportDab reports.

The season’s draw, conducted in Abuja, has set the stage for several intriguing encounters on the opening weekend, commencing September 9.

Last season’s runners-up, Remo Stars, will seek redemption as they clash with 2022 champions Rivers United in Ikenne.

Fresh faces Sporting Lagos will debut on their home turf against Gombe United, while Katsina United makes a triumphant return to the topflight against Kwara United in Ilorin.

Rejoining the premier league, four-time champions Kano Pillars will kickstart their campaign against Sunshine Stars in Akure.

The schedule further boasts a rematch from last season’s opener, as Shooting Stars host Plateau United in Ibadan. Newcomers Heartland will look to make an impactful entrance as they welcome Lobi Stars.

A South South derby is set to ignite the rivalry between Bayelsa United and Akwa United.

Abia Warrior is geared up to trade tackles with Niger Tornadoes, while Rangers take on Doma United in a thrilling showdown, completing the match-day one fixtures.

Adding an innovative touch, the NPFL board is set to stream over 300 out of 380 matches in the upcoming season using cutting-edge AI cameras. These technologically advanced installations will be operational in 10 venues across the nation.

In light of this development, the board has exclusively reserved streaming rights, preventing individual clubs from broadcasting their matches.

Addressing the clubs’ leadership, Elegbeleye expressed the necessity of support for the Propel Sports Africa team, given this pivotal juncture. Individual club streaming activities are discontinued, with clubs instead receiving comprehensive match data and player analytics.

This season marks the first under the full organization of the new Nigeria Premier League board, following their interim management of the abridged league last season.

With an array of intense fixtures on the horizon and the integration of advanced technology, Nigerian football enthusiasts are in for a captivating season of football action.
