Australia overcome a heated penalty shootout to beat France 7-6 after a 0-0 120 minutes, MySportDab reports.
Both teams had heated battle between themselves pushing all through the 120 minutes without being able to score a goal.
The game finally ended with Australian Women advancing into the semifinals of the tournament thanks to penalty kick between them.
Match Report
It was a good game which had wonderful buildup coming from both teams moving forward in the first half of the match.
Australia once again started another match with Sam Kerr on the bench due to his injury which have kept him out for a long period.
France were solid doing a lot going forward with their highest goal scorer, but things were not happening for them as no goal could be scored.
There was nothing coming for both teams despite how hard they came off against themselves fighting with everything to make a goal happen.
The game ended with a 0-0 scoreline in the first half which saw Australia and France heading into the break with nothing happening.
The second half was another encounter which saw a lot more coming with opportunities create but nothing once again to separate them.
France gave all their best doing everything possible from their end to enable something good happen in the match which didn’t come.
So much came to play for Australia but nothing could happen with them approaching the 70th minutes mark and scoreline goalless.
The game had more moments which could have resulted in a goal, but the more they tried the more it was continuous wasted opportunities.
The encounter progressed into extra time between both teams who did everything possible but failed to get a goal within 30 minutes.
Australia were able to get the job done they beat France 7-6 on penalties as they advance unto the semifinals of the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
