South Africa claimed their first-ever victory at the FIFA Women’s World Cup 3-2 against Italy, MySportDab reports.
The victory made sure the Bayana Bayana made it through to the knockout stage for the first time in their history.
Thembi Kgatlana was the woman who made it happen very late in the match which enabled them qualify for the next round.

They came in with a lot in the match which was entertaining on both ends as they pushed forward with everything they had.
South Africa came in strong but conceded a penalty which saw Arianna Caruso converting to make the scoreline 0-1 in the 11th minutes of the game.
Italy were dominating play and doing the most as they held on to their lead pushing forward in the match which there was so many opportunities on goal.
Benedetta Orsi scored an own-goal in the 32nd minutes of the game which was able to bring the scoreline level to 1-1 as the scoreline stayed ending the first half.
They kicked off the remainder of the match with a lot more happening as they wanted to take the lead in a game which was leveled.
South Africa took the lead in the 67th minutes of the game through a stunning goal from Hildah Magaia which was able to make things 2-1.
There was a lot more that happened in the game as Italy Women pulled back level 2-2 in the 74th minutes from Arianna Caruso who also made it a brace.
Thembi Kgatlana was able to give her side the lead very late in the 92nd minutes which was extra time to make things go 3-2 between them.
South Africa were able to ensure they got the job done after claiming a 3-2 victory against Italy which saw them being able to finish second in the group stages.
