Arsenal are 2023 Community Shield winners as they defeat defeat Manchester City at Wembley via penalty shootouts to land their first trophy going into the 2023/24 Premier League season, MySportDab reports.

First Half Report

Manchester City dominated the game from the start as they hope to put Arsenal to the sword.

It was a poor start for the Gunners, who struggled to match the brilliance and clinical display of the Premier League and European champions.

Manchester City wielded over 80% of the ball but were finding it hard breaking through Arsenal’s brick wall defense.

New Arsenal signing Jurrien Timber impressed on his first competitive start for the Gunners at the back, including the likes of Kai Havertz and Declan Rice.

Arsenal played second fiddle to City throughout the first half, but were deadly when launching attacks.

Second Half Report

Manchester City continued to dominate proceedings in the second half but Arsenal gave a more formidable display than in the first half.

Arsenal maintained their threats when with the ball but could not breakthrough City’s backline and recorded no further attempt.

Manchester City finally broke the goal deadlock in the 77th minute with Cole Palmer giving the Premier League and European champions the lead.

Manchester City nearly ran out with a win before Leandro Trossard scored a stoppage-time equaliser that dragged the game into penalties.
