Inter Miami were again in the front foot starting the second half against Nashville but Nashville gave a more solid display.
Before the hour mark, Nashville were able to pull a comeback with a 57th-minute goal from Picault.
The goal restored parity but Inter Miami made concerted efforts to return back to the lead all to no avail.
Nashville dropped deep defending as the pressure mounted while working on counters to offset Inter Miami.
Both sides failed to find the back of the net again as the game finally ended 1-1 heading into penalty shootouts.
Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba, and other Inter Miami players converted their spotkick except Victor Ulloa, who missed one.
Nashville players also converted their spotkicks except Randall Leal and Elliot Panicco, who missed two.
Inter Miami won 10-9 after the shootouts, to win their first silverware in the club’s history.
